THE COALITION AGAINST WATER PRIVATISATION WILL BE HOLDING TWO PICKETS, TOMORROW (MONDAY) 28TH AUGUST IN SUPPORT OF PENDING HIGH COURT CASE AGAINST PRE-PAID WATER METERS

FIRST PICKET: AT THE HQ OF JOHANNESBURG WATER (17 HARRISON STREET/CNR MAIN) FROM 10H00-11H00

SECOND PICKET: AT DEPARTMENT OF WATER AFFAIRS & FORESTRY IN PRETORIA (SEDIBENG BUILDING - 185 SCHOEMAN STREET)

These two pickets will be undertaken by residents of Phiri (Soweto) are part of the ongoing mobilisation around the High Court Legal Challenge that the Coalition launched last month asking the Court to declare that the decisions of Johannesburg Water to limit free basic water supply to 6 kilolitres per household per month and to unilaterally install prepayment meters are unconstitutional and unlawful. . At present, the Coalition is waiting for replying legal papers to be filed by the three respondents (Johannesburg Water, the City of Johannesburg and the Department of Water Affairs & Forestry - all of whom have formally indicated that they will be opposing the case filed by the Coalition)
