APF Narrative Report

Prepared by Silumko Radebe - APF Organiser
Are there important contextual (political, economic, social) changes that have/could have an impact on the project?
Political: We have seen division inside the country around the issues of service delivery and in particular within the African National Congress on how the country must tackle corruption, politics of poor service delivery, high crime rate and self-enrichment within the country. The President Thabo Mbeki has blamed Local (...)

Narrative Report 2004-2005

Friday 14th September 2007 by natalie
The APF comes to the end of the 3 year Comic Relief funding project a strong organization albeit with some weaknesses. There is no doubt that the APF has made its mark as an organization fighting and campaigning on issues facing the working class and the poor. It has built a modicum of respect for itself among the masses and has forced the powers that be to respect and be wary of it. The last mile of the 3 year project was proverbially the hardest. There have been many hiccups in (...)

Water Privatisation

JOHANNESBURG WATER DECLARES WAR ON THE POOR!
Johannesburg Water is attempting to silence and criminalize the voices of those who are resisting its programme - Operation Gcin’amanzi - of installing pre-paid water meters in the Phiri community of SOWETO. Instead of listening to the very community it claims to be helping, Johannesburg Water has brought in the South African Police Services and the hated Red Ants’ of Wozani Security to crack down on community opposition. Already, 13 community (...)

WE WERE THE ANC

Wednesday 4th October 2006 by Trevor
Many ordinary ANC members cannot face the reality that the ANC has betrayed them, that it no longer serves the working class and the poor, that the ANC is owned and controlled by the bosses class. And that even though they once loved the ANC, even though they once the ANC, today they can no longer love the ANC, they are no longer the ANC. This is important because ANC leaders like to say "You are the ANC, you cannot fight the ANC government, you cannot fight yourself".

ANC cannot deliver because it is serving the capitalists

Monday 18th September 2006 by Trevor
There are many good people in the ANC. But they cannot achieve any good in there because the ANC is committed to serving the capitalists and their system of profits. So when we criticise the ANC government we should help those who are still loyal to the ANC by telling them that the problem is with the ANC’s capitalist policies.
